About This Originization
The origins of scouting go back to 1899. Lord Baden-Powell, who was a British Army officer, has written Scouting for Boys, which is regarded today as an initiation of the Scouting Movement. Scout Movement is a movement that aims to support young people in their physical, mental and spiritual development, so that they may play constructive roles in society, with a strong focus on the outdoors and survival skills. In 1911, Andrzej Malkowski translated “Scouting for boys” and founded scouting in Poland. In the same year his wife, Olga, set up the “Scouting” femininity. In 1912, the name “Harcerz and Harcerka” was introduced instead of the scout. After the Second War, scouting organizations from all of the partitioned states join together and formed the “Polish Scouting Association” (ZHP pgk). In the Second World War, Scouts took part in numerous battles against the Germans. During the Warsaw Uprising, scouts aided batallions of the Home Army called “Zoska”, “Parasol”, “Wigry” i “Piesc” and took an activerole in the resistance.

There are currently about 20 cakes in Windsor. Girls’ cookies are united under the name ‘Biedronki’ and the young are in ‘Wolves’. During weekly meetings, children learn Polish youth songs, games and traditions. An important part of each meeting is the arts and crafts that give them the opportunity to learn more about the proficiency (badge) they are currently working on. In the recognition year, cookies and young usually work on 2 to 3 different badges. Cookies and young are visited by Santa Claus during the annual Christmas meeting by the fireplace. An important part of cookie and young groups is 2 to 3 selected scouts, whose purpose is to help the Scout Leader and keep the group ready for work. These scouts are training to become youth leaders.
